Bathroom Remodel- Part 3- Details

This will be the concluding post to the bathroom remodel.  I wanted to share some close ups and details of items that I made to go in the bathroom.

 I made the valance to go with the curtains following dimensions from a store-bought valance.  I found this fabric at Walmart on clearance for $1 a yard probably 6 months ago and it's exactly the fabric I had in mind to use for the valance and vanity stool.

 I recovered the stool for my vanity.  It was super easy.  I just unscrewed the cushion and used a staple gun to attach the fabric.

Orange/Teal Quilt

I am currently in process of quilting the Orange/Teal quilt.  I chose a petal type design and it is hard work because the quilt is so big!

Bathroom Remodel- Part 2- After

In follow-up to last week's post, here are after photos of the bathroom!  

We are amazed by the transformation and couldn't be happier.  This bathroom is our guest bathroom and is now fully functional- yay!  This is also the bathroom that people use or ask "can I use your bathroom".  I no longer have to give a tub/orange carpet disclaimer as I show them where it is!

Cherry Blossom Layout

 

 

 On the Ohio University Campus there is a line of cherry trees that were given to the University as a gift from a university in Japan.  They bloom every spring and they are just beautiful.  People around town will talk and ask if the cherry trees have bloomed.  My scrapbooking friends often take photos of them every year. 

On Monday, my mom and I were headed to the store and she said she wanted to stop and see the cherry trees and take some pictures.  Of course, I did not have my camera with me!  We were able to get some great photos with her camera and with my iPhone.  We aren't really sure why we have never gone to walk around the trees and take photos, but it was nice!  It was a windy, but beautiful evening and the blossoms were beautiful. 

I went home Monday evening and printed out photos and figured out a layout.  I think it's a new record!  Photos taken Monday and layout completely finished Wednesday!

Bathroom Remodel- Part 1- Before & During

Guess what? Our bathroom is remodeled! 

 I lied a little during my "bathroom subway art" post.  The bathroom was actually functional by then, but not completely done with finishing touches.  When I scheduled the post, a month earlier, we had not heard from the contractor.

 Replaced flooring plywood, installed tub, built wall

Fabric Flowers

 

 

This was a pretty time intensive project, but I love how it turned out!  The flowers are made with the new Close to My Heart Textiles!  This is the For Always collection and it complements the paper pack.  I like that they chose patterns that were complementary instead of matching the same patterns as the paper packets.  I used the Kraft Container made at the Close to My Heart Album Retreat as inspiration.

To make the flowers:
1. Cut fat quarter into 2.5 inch strips.
2. Sew right sides together using a .25 inch seam allowance or smaller
3. Turn so that right sides are showing
4. Press flat
5. Sew basting stitch
6. Gather, forming into a flower
7. Hand stitch running back and forth along the circle base until it will hold by itself
8. Cut small circles of green felt, cut small hole in center
9. Hot glue floral pick to base of flower and cover with green felt
10. Arrange in Kraft Container
