Burlap Garden Flag

I went into Dollar Tree a few months ago for some plastic cups and found these garden flag holders!  It's pretty basic, but for $1 I couldn't pass it up. 

I had picked this paint color out at Lowes from the Spring sample collection.  These are very small samples of paint, but perfect for small craft projects like this one.  I had a coupon which made it free! I was wanting the Pantone color of the year, Radiant Orchid, but it was not available with the coupon. 

I used my Gypsy machine to design and size the words and then cut a stencil out of vinyl on my Cricut. I stuck the vinyl to the burlap and then painted over. I hung it up to dry outside. I then folded over the top of the burlap to create a pocket for the rod, and stitched around the perimeter of the flag to prevent additional fraying.

Mystery Quilt Along Part 2

 

 I followed the Connecting Threads Mystery Quilt Along last year, but did not participate.  It is a little scary, because you do not know what the finished quilt looks like until it's done!  I decided that it would be fun to participate this year and I had fabric remnants that worked well together.  I am through part 2 and I can't wait until next week when it all comes together!

APQ Quilt Along- Fabric Selection

 

I follow several quilting blogs, including Camille Roskelley's, and I loved the APQ Quilt Along that I have been seeing popping up around the quilt blog world.  I have been wanting a nice quilt for the living room and have been searching for both a pattern and fabric to coordinate with the rest of the decor.  This is the pattern and I found the perfect set of fabrics at JoAnns.  My living room decor is focused around the colors in a cross stitch that my Grandmother stiched for me.  The throw pillows and door rugs in my living room match these colors and have this fun petal flower design and I finally found it with the correct colors!  Now, I just need to get to cutting and sewing.....
